Texas State University is one of the only college campus’ home to a federally protected park and our programs make incredible opportunities for students and faculty to design original research.
This is a rare interactive experience within a critical habitat home to many endemic endangered species. A knowledgeable interpreter will lead your group through our aquarium and for your duration on the water, after an in depth introduction to Spring Lake. Topics of discussion include the Edwards Aquifer Geology, Wetlands, Endangered Species, and the Cultural History of the Spring Lake area. You will help identify some unique species of aquatic plants, turtles, fish, and migratory birds.  Points of interest include our underwater archaeology dig site with artifacts dating back over 12,000 years and over 200 artesian springs, which fill the lake to create the San Marcos River.
Tours are offered morning afternoon and evening everyday and may be tailored to your interests and budget. We do the tours before and after regular glass bottom boat hours so the area is quiet and private. We can accommodate groups up to 4 at a time. You may book your tour over the phone or online, and we recommend to book in advance to save the date. Please check out our website for more details or call with any questions.
