Aquarium

Endangered Species Exhibit

There are 8 known species in the San  Marcos springs and Spring lake that are  listed as endangered or threatened by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife service.  Our aquarium is the home to 3 Texas Blind Salamanders which are considered to be of one the most highly evolved salamanders in the world.
Aquarena's 5400 gallon tank is the home to 3 spotted gar,  a smooth soft shell turtle, a channel and a blue catfish,   several Rio Grande cichlids, 5 species of Sunfish and 6 Large mouth bass.
Aquarena's Aquarium recreates the habitat    found in Spring Lake by housing native  and endangered species in our exhibits.  The most popular tank is the baby turtle tank which is home to  baby red eared sliders, Texas river cooters and musk turtles.  In addition to a 5400 gallon tank the Aquarium also has a large Fresh water prawn and an American eel.
