Springlake is critical habitat to 8 listed endangered and threatened species making access restricted to authorized Diving for Science Volunteers.

A Diving Authorization Course is offered monthly at Aquarena. Once completed volunteer Science Diver's can assist in the conservation and preservation efforts of the San Marcos Springs and ecosystem.
