Due to Spring Lake being declared critical habitat to 8 listed endangered and threatened species, recreational use of the lake is restricted by Federal, State and local laws. However, Aquarena has an excellent Diving for Science Program which offers certified scuba divers an opportunity to assist in the conservation and preservation of the San Marcos Springs as a volunteer.
